Bangkok (Day 1)

May 13th
Well we arrived in Thailand after traveling for a day and a half across the world. I flew for the first time in a 777 and a 747 which were really cool. I was in the very front of the 747 and it was the quietest thing that I have ever been on… you could wisper and the person next to you would be able to understand you perfectly.

Walking out of the airport was a shock in how hot it was, I have never immediately started sweating that fast than when we walked out of the doors from the airport to find the bus that was picking us up. On the bus ride to the city center we were fed McDonald's and I ate a DOUBLE Fillet of Fish Sandwich!!

When we got to Bangkok we immediately went into the city center and went to the royal place and toured the entire thing in 100 degree heat. It was incredible how hot it was and how unacclimated we were when it came to this heat. We went to one of the biggest shrines/temples that everyone goes to at least once in their lives to pray and show their respect toward the Buddha. It was very inspiring to see all of these ordinary people being so respectful to the temple and the Buddha. We then went to the giant Buddha with feet that were 9 feet tall. it was very cool to see another temple and again the people being so respectful.

By that point we were completely sweaty and "templed" out so we rode the river taxi to cool off and get to the restaurant where I had my first pad Thai in Thailand… It was good but I think that once we get into changmai there will be much better street food vendors for us to eat.

We then got to the hotel where we went on a expedition to find some beer and food… so we ended up at the 7-11 and bought beer and food to hang out at the pool on the top of the hotel. It was fun and we then went to our rooms and attempted to watch TV but we immediately fell asleep because of being so tired.

That was day 1 and there are some pictures attached to give you a representation of what I was looking at!
