From the Mountains to Cambodian Border

We left the monastery and headed to Patriyas cousins house where they had prepared a traditional Thai lunch with papaya salad, BBQ pork, and rice with desert as a coconut ice-cream. It was delicious and very comforting to have some home cooking for a change. We hung out with the family which lived on a farm and we were allowed to pick some fruit and socialize with the family that lived there. We then boarded the bus to go to a waterfall with a very interesting characteristic.

We left the teachers house with the intention to stop at a waterfall on the way that is a local Thai hot spot because of the amazing scenery and experience that was to be had. We then learned that this was a waterfall where there are fish in the water that you swim with that are friendly and swim around you. At this place we as American tourist stuck out like a sore thumb and all of the Thai people were again staring at us and especially me. We got to the water and saw how many fish were there for us to swim with and let me tell you it was incredible! There were so many fish in this river that we were going to swim in it was crazy, I naturally was the first person to get in and swim with the fish. The water was amazingly cold and refreshing but the fish swimming next to me were interesting and they were nibbling at my toes as I sat on a rock. They were a form of trout and they loved to eat any vegetable especially an asparagus looking type of vegetation that was naturally sold along the walk up to the waterfall that we didn’t buy, but the other people around us did and they really liked to throw the food into the water around all us American swimming because we naturally are loud and made a big fuss when the fish would literally leap out of the water to get some of the food that was thrown into the area. You can think of a puddle full of tadpoles on a much larger scale is what we were swimming in but the water was moving and the fish were much bigger.

We then returned to the bus and headed off to the Swedish resort 3 miles away from the Cambodian border. We got there are it was INCREDIBLE, the houses are so nice and they were air-conditioned and the club house has a never-ending pool that looks out into the valley and mountains. We then had a buffet of traditional Thai dishes and discovered our new favorite beer which is names LEO beer and we as the guys have concluded that this is the closest to Bush Beer that we have found so we decided to drink a lot of it. We then went into the pool and swam for awhile and then were cohersed to do karaoke which was fun but we were tired and needed a good rest on a normal bed and hit the hay early at about midnight… look out tomorrow though because I think we are going to be doing it big tomorrow night as the last night at this resort.
